My comments on tutoring Homework Help : I have worked with many children and adolescents over the years with ADHD, however, I must say that my most substantial experience has come from raising two boys with ADHD. My 19 year old was diagnosed (formally) at age 6 and has ADHD Combined Type. My 15 year old was diagnosed at an older age, mainly due to his having ADHD Inattentive Type. I began learning everything there was to learn about ADHD, its symptoms, treatment, and learning styles. I have been to many conferences and trainings and have tested and used many different techniques of teaching and handling academics, study skills, organizational skills, behavioral issues, planning, reminding, and other areas of executive functions.

I have over 30 years of experience with infants, children, adolescents, and families, including work with infants and children in development of age appropriate skills. It helps them understand that what may look difficult, may not always be so and that they only way to find out is to learn it. Also, I do not teach study habits. Instead I like to see what a students current habits are and work on expanding those habits so that the child does not get frustrated and overwhelmed. It is easier to learn more from current knowledge than try to teach a whole new way.
