All I do is tend to my students needs. I'm personal. Like to get off track with my students and lead them back to the point.

My comments on tutoring Geography : One of my two minors was human geography. I completed courses in physical geography and oceanography as well.

Graduated with honors in 2010 from SDSU with a BA in Linguistics and an TESL certificate. I double-minored in History and Geography. Worked at American Language Institute (ALI) before and after graduation as a facilitator (assistant instructor). Graduated from Mesa Community College in 2007 with an associates degree in Social Science.
I take a systematic "nuts and bolts" approach that gives the student the basic building blocks so that they may become a partner in the integrative learning process that involves figuring out how to properly structure, connect & apply these integrations to form new building blocks, and so on to wider & wider integrations & applications.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am very student-centered. I believe that all students can learn any subject if the teaching style is adapted to the student's learning needs and prior experience. I further believe that learning should be fun for the student and to this end I constantly seek out interesting resources for students. I am patient and expect high achievement from students, but I also believe that high achievement only occurs when education is tailored to the student. I am currently a Master's student in Educational Psychology and I incorporate empirical research data into my method of teaching; I believe in doing what is proven to work to help students achieve!
I tutored English and Humanities in the Academic Skills Center of my alma mater, Heritage University. I was a Teacher's Assistant at this university for two semesters and often took over for the class in place of the professor. I tutored prima ... read more

During the past nine years I have been teaching 7th to 12th graders in a WASC-accredited private school on a one-on-one basis. Beginning as a math teacher, I have also branched out to teach all social studies subjects as well as fine arts. Early on, it was my pleasure to have an Algebra I student complete my course with an "A" after having failed it 3 times. Prior to that I was a commercial banker for 22 years, which meant I sold bank services and provided customer service to Fortune 1000 companies. I have a BS in Mathematics and an MBA specializing in Finance and Management Policies.
I believe every student deserves to learn and succeed. I love teaching and working with all children. I believe all children can learn, but each in different ways. A Little Bit About Me...

I love to teach high school students and adults that might be struggling. I know they have the ability to learn but each in a unique way. I am hands-on, patient, kind, laid back and even a little unconventional. My goal is to reach into the students strengths and help them bolster their weaknesses through discovery. I feel that just a few moments of discovery will greatly boost confidence and lead to a better student.
While completing a degree in Survey Engineering I was picked by two professors to teach in their absence and also lead labs. The situations ranged from one-on-one to outdoor labs and from the classroom to small groups. As a manager of engineering departments at four consulting firms opportunities arose to tutor numerous individuals in both classroom and field settings and the topics were applied math involving physics, algebra, calculus and geometry. I love Math, and I would love to have the opportunity to teach children and adults especially students from k-12th grade who are struggling in Math. My teaching style would be to teach Math as simple and understandable as possible. I would also make my teaching style to be fun but my priority is to tutor students to be successful in their education.

I really enjoy teaching and working with children of all ages. I know that children can excel at anything and we all have different learning styles. Co-partnering with parents is critical to success in their child(ren) education. Everyone should have the opportunity to succeed and should be provided the tools and the means to do so. I firmly believe this. Encouragement and enrichment is important. Not to mention a nurturing environment. I greatly feel that my job in life is help with passing on my knowledge to help others.

Teaching has always been a joy for me. Teaching is also hard work. Helping children learn is an important process, and I take that responsibility very seriously. As a tutor, I know it is important to work with the student, the classroom teacher, and the parents. Creating a team that focuses on the individual child will help me get a better understanding of the child's needs and will make it more likely that child achieves success. If I had to describe my style of teaching, it would be: Positive Instruction and Positive Discipline. I believe that it is the teacher's responsibility to find the "key" to a child's learning style by using positive instruction and discipline.

I feel I learn as much as I teach. I value every student that I have the opportunity to work with. I have learned some students just need to overcoming their dislike of a subject. For others, a key subject building block had been built properly (as in Math) and as a result the rest of the information was sitting unstable in their minds. Finding where the support is needed and then working to solidify the skill then leads to greater confidence and greater academic achievement, Most students I work with appreciate that I am fair but firm. I want to succeed. It is a win-win.
I have recently completed my MBA at national University. I currently teach high school part time at a alternative high school. This recent experience provided me with opportunity to work with students in a one-on-one basis as well as familiarize myself with every core class offered in the high school program.
