If you don't like the results, I haven't done my job.

I won the state championship in the 100 meters and went to Adams State College in Alamosa CO. Broke a leg in track and received withdrawn F across the board. Left college and healed up. Went to the Army two years and reserve three years. Came back and picked up the quickest degree possiable. Moved to Hawwaii, three years. Became a ciritified dept of defense government contractor. Furnish and deliver contracts. Ended up moving back home to Albuquerque NM. I started working in the Indian Casinos for 13 years. I bought a house and retired. But now I'm tired of sitting around.
All I do is tend to my students needs. I'm personal. Like to get off track with my students and lead them back to the point.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe every student deserves to learn and succeed. I love teaching and working with all children. I believe all children can learn, but each in different ways. In recognizing that each student is an individual with innate talents and their own learning style, a teacher needs to customize teaching techniques to accommodate for that. I am patient and considerate, and passionate about education. On an individual basis I aim to foster positive relationships with my students. I am committed to instill in each student the desire to learn and accept challenges so that they will be prepared for a future beyond school walls.

While completing a degree in Survey Engineering I was picked by two professors to teach in their absence and also lead labs. The situations ranged from one-on-one to outdoor labs and from the classroom to small groups. As a manager of engineering departments at four consulting firms opportunities arose to tutor numerous individuals in both classroom and field settings and the topics were applied math involving physics, algebra, calculus and geometry. Since graduating I have tutored students in the areas of physics, calculus, applied math and technical writing. The students ages ranged from early High School students to a 56 year old retired Navy master chief.
I love to teach high school students and adults that might be struggling. I know they have the ability to learn but each in a unique way. I am hands-on, patient, kind, laid back and even a little unconventional. My go ... read more

I graduated from University of California Riverside and received my bachelor's degree in Mathematics. Not only I gain more understanding in Math, I also spent most of my time with my fellow classmates helping each other for our Math assignments in college. During the spring 2010, I tutored one student who is struggling in Algebra 1 and helped her pass the class.
I love Math, and I would love to have the opportunity to teach children and adults especially students from k-12th grade who are struggling in Math. My teaching style would be to teach Math as simple and understandable as possible. I would also make my teaching style to be fun but my priority is to tutor students to be successful in their education.

I really enjoy teaching and working with children of all ages. I know that children can excel at anything and we all have different learning styles. Co-partnering with parents is critical to success in their child(ren) education. Everyone should have the opportunity to succeed and should be provided the tools and the means to do so. I firmly believe this. Encouragement and enrichment is important. Not to mention a nurturing environment. I greatly feel that my job in life is help with passing on my knowledge to help others.

Through participation in professional and community leadership activities, I have honed my attention to detail, leadership and interpersonal skills. As a “Bears United In Literacy Development” mentor for CAL Corps Public Service Center, I guided a group of 3 underperforming students from the low-income Oakland community to grade level standards by creating innovative weekly lesson plans to improve test scores, grades, and ownership of their academic careers. Out of 300+ learning strategy submissions to America Learns lesson strategy network, I was honored with the “December National Learning Strategy of the Month” for creating an innovate lesson plan, employing engaged pedagogy in the classroom and guiding students to take initiative.

I tutored English and Humanities in the Academic Skills Center of my alma mater, Heritage University. I was a Teacher's Assistant at this university for two semesters and often took over for the class in place of the professor. I tutored primarily college students. My specialization was in Technical and Report Writing. I also currently tutor two minor students in a homeschool setting. One is ten years old and has significant reading delays, but has been gaining reading speed and comprehension with me. The other is 18 years old; I am helping her graduate from high school, so I plan all curriculum and tutor her in all subjects.
I am very student-centered. I believe that all students can learn any subject if the teaching style is adapted to the student's learning needs and prior experience. I further believe that learning should be fun for the student and to this end I constantly seek ... read more

I believe tutoring is not only to raise children's grades, but also to make sure they understand the material so it can be applied to other principles in their future education. I believe not every student can be tutored the same way, and I have confidence that I can mold material in a way that each student can understand.
As a high school student, I taught music and math to middle school kids for approximately two years. The music they learned was performed in a competitive circuit in which they placed. As an undergraduate, I served as a study proctor in my sorority from 2007-2009 tutoring in the subjects of math, science, and writing.

A Little Bit About Me...

I very much enjoy teaching. All children can learn provided they are given the proper guidence. Patience, tolerance, and acceptance on the teachers/tutors part is the key to success. The student must simply be willing to learn, excel, and succeed. All children can meet their potential given a good learning environment, encouragement, and established trust that the teacher/tutor is willing to give freely. When I strive (and I will) the student strives. With this: MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
