A Little Bit About Me...

I have a diverse educational background that has allowed me to excel in careers in the military, public and private sectors. In 1977 I earned a Bachelor Degree in Biology and was able to use it for 5 years as a Biological Lab Assistant at the United States Army Aeromedical Research Lab. During my tenure, I earned an MBA in Aviation. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, I worked for 8 years as a financial examiner for the National Credit Union Administration. This career was followed by 6 years as a private business consultant and as a procurement specialist for the Mitchell College of Business at the University of South Alabama. During this time, as a doctoral student, I tutored graduate students in Statistics.

I come into contact with a variety of different students with different areas of interest as a public speaking teacher. My teaching philosophy is to recognize that every student needs, wants, and gets something different from their studies, and it is my job to help them do just that. Rather than conduct a “one size fits all” class, I work with my students individually to guide them in their research and help them get the most out of their speeches.
