I Want You to Believe in You!

I like to use the Socratic method, mainly by asking questions and challenging assumptions. In addition, I like to engage those I teach, challenging them to think about what they previously have not considered. I believe in building on successes, and offering constructive criticism, where appropriate.
I have mentored various people since 2000, in all types of subjects, including math, science, social sciences, English, writing, literature, and other related subjects. My academic record is very strong, and I believe empowering those I work with every single time. The only pre-requisites are that you have to be willing to learn, and learn how to learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

Being educated and experienced in civil engineering for over 25 years, I have through those years mentored and taught interns. Currently unemployed and considering acquiring teaching certificate to permit me to teach (K-12) math. Experience in teaching adults in my ministry.

If I were to sum my "style" of teaching up, it would be "patience with determination". Perhaps my best achievment is with my wife who recently graduated from A-B Tech. Kate has always had a block toward anything mathematic. She had one course between her and graduation, college algebra! The bottom line here is that I patiently stuck through this course treatment with her to a successful completion, she completed the course and graduated with a well earned "C" or a 78%. With patience and determination shared together with the student, impediments like a dread for math can be overcome.
The civil engineering program that I successfully completed into a 4 year BS degree, was math and science intensive, with about half the courses requiring laboratory work.
