A Little Bit About Me...

In High School, as a member of the National Honor Society, I tutored my classmates during lunch hours on a voluntary basis. I helped my classmates in social studies subjects (history, government, and politics) and greatly enjoyed the experience. Through out college, I frequently led study groups. By my sophomore year, I had classmates and friends that would seek me out to help them study for exams and finals. Now that I’ve graduated college, I’m looking to maintain my love of helping others and learning by continuing to tutor others.

My comments on tutoring Government : Graduated with a 3.57 in Political Science.

Throughout my student career I have been an excellent test taker, especially on standardized tests. I scored a 1480/1600 on my SAT and a 164 on my LSAT. I have been taught in both group settings and individualized settings. Additionally I have also tutored in both group and individual settings. My teaching style strives to be personalized with a lot of emphasis put on developing test taking strategies with trial and error.

Every child can learn, so every child deserves to learn.

I teach in the way of Scaffolding. I give the learner all the assistance they need until they no longer need it any more. I start by giving a lot of cues and help with each step. Then I slowly take the training wheels off and each time, I let them show me more and more what they can do with out the help. I hope to create leaders.
I have been teaching children younger than myself since I started teaching Sunday school classes and became a adolescent influence in my previous youth group. I new all along I was going to be a teacher. I have been tutoring my younger nephews since they are now in grade level courses. I have also had experience in the classroom as observing mentor teachers and assisting them in lesson plan creations. A Little Bit About Me...

Through personal and professional experience, I have come to believe that fluency is most quickly achieved through immersion in a language (and instruction in only that language). However, accuracy can be developed and maintained more consistently when a student is able to compare his or her native tongue to the one which he or she is studying - as long as the student has a good understanding of the grammar and other basics of the native language. As a result, I believe in that constant exposure to a language, coupled with conceptual comparison to the native tongue, will foster the best combination of fluency and accuracy.
