The thing I love most about teaching is opening up someones eyes to something new and seeing the "wow" look on their faces. Sometimes certain subject matter is not always easy for a person to learn. I've always appreciated the teacher that went out of their way with a great amount of patience to make sure I understood. I began my higher education at Tallahassee Community College in 1997. After receiving my AA Degree I transferred to F.S.U where I majored in Criminology with a minor in Spanish and graduated in 2003. I enjoy teaching and working with students. I now understand that all children learn on their own level and at their own pace. I am very easy going, but I insist that students do their homework and stay after school for extra help if they need it. I grade work off of understanding. It is not always finding the correct answer, but the process to get to the correct answer. I believe that a good teacher makes a good student and I strive to be that good teacher and student.
I enjoyed tutoring while I was in college working in the math lab for three years. However, now that I have been actually teaching my very own students I have a better understanding of the basics of mathematics and I am a much better student myself.

I earned my bachelor degree in Communications and Creative Writing (double major), which has attributed to my excellent verbal communication skills as well as my writing skills. I've worked in a variety of environments from a newspaper to a radio station, in addition to my course work which emphasized research and reading for comprehension. As the poetry editor of FSU's literary magazine and the assistant editor of FSU's newspaper, I organized others into creative and critical ways of thinking and processing.

A Little Bit About Me...

While living overseas in both Ukraine and Mexico I taught ESL through a non-profit organization for 4 1/2 years. In addition to teaching beginning, intermediate, and advanced classes to students of all ages, I did extensive one on one tutoring with students, and eventually conducted all new teacher training.
