I have recently completed student teaching and have earned my teaching certificate as an art specialist. I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students at different levels with varying abilities. I have had internships at the high school and elementary levels, with time spent both in the art classroom as well as the special education classroom. As a substitute teacher, I learned to manage an array of classrooms and assumed all duties of a regular classroom teacher. While working for a day camp, I organized and led activities for diverse students ranging from age five to fifteen. I do whatever I possibly can in order to accommodate each persons needs. I try to understand the level of where the children are and build on that. I am patient, considerate, consistant, non-judgmental and feel it is not too early to start teaching or a child to learn. There is so much children can learn and we, as adults, can learn from them. I found working with young minds in different Early Childhood agencies is one reason for earning my Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. While my area of expertise is physical education, I have gained great experience in other areas of education while searving as an in house substitute for Highland Elementary. Serving as an in house substitute provided me with experience working with large groups, as well as working with students on an individual basis. This experience also provided me with the wonderful opportunity to work with students with special needs. I have also served 2 years as a full time physical education teacher, which gave me an opportunity to interact with students and further understand the learning process. I believe the biggest key to learning is finding a way for students to relate to the information.
