My greatest joy as a tutor and professor is to witness the "Ah-ha" moment when the light bulb comes on and the student puts the pieces together and comes to understand the topic, and, perhaps more importantly, understands the significance or ramifications of the topic in relation to other topics or disciplines. As the “Ah-ha” moments add up a student’s confidence grows. Ultimately, this confidence in learning is what I am trying to achieve. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a tutor at the Boys and Girls Club here in decatur for three years. During undergraduate i was a math tutor for two years. For the last year I have been a substitute teacher at the Decatur Public Schools. I have a bachelors degree in business and a MBA from Benedictine University.

My experience in teaching is limited other than helping my brother-in-law with tutoring through algebra in college. I enjoyed it very much, and it was extremely fulfilling. I can tutor/teach various courses in math, business, engineering/construction technology, etc.
I want to guide the student to figuring out the right answer themselves by demonstrating a problem for them, and having them work a similar one. I will be there step by step to offer direction in a very pleasant, easy going manner.

My entire educational career has been based on my innate drive for excellence. I was valedictorian of my high school class, graduated Summa Cum Laude as a triple major (Accountancy, Business Management, and Marketing), double minor (Political Science and Economics), and will have a Master’s degree in Accountancy in May. I have a solid base and polished skills in writing for a range of disciplines. I had always wanted to be a teacher, but after teaching for several years I found that I enjoyed the one-on-one experience more. I have a triple major in math education, elementary education and physical education. My professional experience includes math teacher, physics teacher, accountant, business owner and financial manager.
I love helping people realize that they are smarter than they think. Seeing the look on a student's face when he/she grasps a new concept is a very rewarding experience.
