A person who has strong negative feelings about learning is automatically hindered in any learning environment. I first gain the trust of my students, and then start to build an appreciation for learning in their minds. Once that process has begun, I inject a sense of humor, a sense of patience, and a great deal of love into my teaching. I have been a classroom teacher for over 20 years. I have taught all subjects in elementary school, English, history, and mathematics in middle school, and English composition and literature in high school. My teaching style is best described as a balance between a healthy relational presence and an interesting conveyor of teaching and information. In other words, I combine "popular, upbeat, and friendly" with "engrossing, unique and interesting." Sensitivity's employed in that I notice the demeanor and countenance of the learner to help the student remain hopeful, optimistic and goal-setting, or at least goal-friendly.
