Experience Summary
I have been a classroom teacher for over 20 years. I have taught all subjects in elementary school, English, history, and mathematics in middle school, and English composition and literature in high school. Additionally, I have taught mass communication and creative writing in high school. I have taught remedial English, freshman composition, and technical writing on a collegiate level. One of my specialties is helping students to overcome the difficulties in passing standardized tests such as iLEAP, ACT/SAT, GED, and ASVAB. My 27 years in the army has given me further expertise in how to successfully teach/tutor. I spent 12 years as a technical writer in the aerospace industry
Teaching Style
A person who has strong negative feelings about learning is automatically hindered in any learning environment. I first gain the trust of my students, and then start to build an appreciation for learning in their minds. Once that process has begun, I inject a sense of humor, a sense of patience, and a great deal of love into my teaching.
My Hobbies
Storytelling, puppeteering, toy making
