After earning my BA and CA Teaching Credential in English, my love for the language and subject drove me to complete my MA in English and Comparative Literature in less than two years. Such an intense program demanded that I not only be highly organized, but that my analytical, writing, and verbal skills be immensely effective, as well. Consequently, I successfully translated these abilities to the many students I have taught and tutored over the past six years. I first determine the student's level in each subject, and tutor accordingly. Since every person learns in a different way, I may try more than one approach until it is clear that the student is gaining an understanding of the subject matter. I am patient, positive, and encouraging. I find it very rewarding to help others. When I see the student learning and advancing, I share in their joy at overcoming a stumbling block, or accomplishing their goal.
I am currently working as the Math Specialist at a K-8th school where I provide assistance to students who need extra help or are performing below grade level. I also work with students in 8th grade teaching Algebra to those who have the ability to learn at a faster pace than the class as a whole.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked in several preschools and have experience as an Au-Pair in Italy last summer. I like to engage children and have a lot of fun with them through learning but I also know how to discipline. I am very patient with children and understanding. With teaching it is important for me not to teach children a lot but to make sure they have a solid foundation of knowledge and then build from there.
My junior year I studied abroad in France, I lived and breathed French. I lived with a host family, living as the French do. I even studied abroad in Morocco after that, further strengthening my French language skills. As a child I always had the desire to learn French and upon entering college is when I began fulfillment of that desire. I love the language and I enjoy teaching it to others.

I am a recent retiree with 33 years of teaching in both private and public institutions. I have had the pleasure of working on four different continents, primarily as a math and French instructor. Among my various accomplishments, I would include my year in France as a Fulbright exchange participant. After teaching French for my first dozen years, I then acquired a supplementary credential in mathematics, a subject area in greater demand.
