Much of my teaching style I learned while at Apple Computer in one on one computer teaching sessions. I tend to be a very enthusiastic and encouraging anyway, but Apple taught me an additional patience and a lead-learning-out teaching style that promotes self-discovery and avoids simply giving answers. Though it is geared towards adults, I have since found that adapting the patent and deliberate pace of LLO teaching to the learning level of younger children is effective and fun for both myself and the student. As a team lead I have mentored and taught younger team members for over 10 years in computer programming, planning, statistical analysis, budgeting, and mathematical computations. I have also taught them how to debug problems, test solutions, and how to successfully complete their tasks. I have over 20 years experience in a variety of fields such as Defense Industry (Department of Navy), Space Systems (Atlas V lauch vehicle), and commercial (Lockheed-Martin).
My teaching/mentoring/tutoring style is tailored to the student. I do not believe their is a generic teaching style that will help all students. Most people I have worked with have difficulty understanding a couple of key points and once that obstacle is overcome learning accelerates until the next obstacle is reached. I try to understand the student about problem which make them not understand for each items.
