Since graduating from my undergraduate program in 2007, I have had a passion for teaching and learning. My first teaching experience was working in Camden, New Jersey. I served as an intern art teacher for at-risk first through third graders in an after school/summer school program. Shortly thereafter I started my Master's program, where I integrated my passion for teaching into my capstone project. I was given the opportunity to teach at-risk fifth through eighth graders basic life and business skills, which included everything from how to calculate simple interest to how to apply for college. Around the same time, my goddaughter, now eleven, was diagnosed with learning disabilities. I received a BA in History from the University of Arkansas in 1991. My cumulative GPA at the U of A was 3.96. I was in the Honors Program and graduated Summa cum Laude. I also received several other academic awards from the History Department and the University. I have worked in the Commercial Construction industry for the past seventeen years. For the past five years I have been deeply involved in employee training. I have designed curriculums and provided training in safety as well as general construction knowledge such as Blue-print Reading, Scheduling, Basic Carpentry, etc.
While my experience as a trainer has been with adult employees, they have been a diverse group in terms of age, educational background, literacy and experience.
