Over the past few years, I have worked with students who have come from a wide range of age groups and mathematical skill levels. I believe this has helped me develop an ability to sense where a student is in his or her understanding of math, which, in turn, allows me to communicate on a level that he or she will be able to comprehend. One goal I have is to teach in a way that is neither too challenging nor too boring for the individual student. I'm a recent graduate of Rust College. During my years at college I tutored in subjects as biology, basic math, college algebra,English literature, and also was a co-judge for a local junior high science fair. During the summer of 2009, I did my internship with the Ronald E. McNair program at the University of Mississippi. This program focused mainly on research based studies with a chosen graduate professor.
I'm an assertive motivator. Learning should not be repulsive, children love to learn by examples that they can relate to. I find the opportunity to combine the likes and dislikes of the student and mold them into a constructive solution. Using metaphors and similes are more of my specialties. I have tutored elementary students during my tenure in the Air Force on a volunterr basis. I worked as a Introduction to Computers instructor at Keiser College for two semesters.
