My personal pedagogic philosophy ranks above all else thoughtfulness, compassion, individual attention to each student, and a dynamic, interactive understanding of the process of learning. I treat my students with the utmost respect for their intelligence and independence of mind and spirit. I attended Sarah Lawrence College, where I studied English and Spanish literature, Ancient Greek, history and philosophy. I graduated with an MFA in English from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop in May of 2008, and I am currently the Provost’s Post-Graduate Writing Fellow in fiction at the University of Iowa. I have three years of experience teaching college students in English and creative writing. I have also occasionally tutored students at the University of Iowa in Ancient Greek.

It is both amazing and fulfilling for me to utilize my education and communication skills to assist both children and adults in learning to better understand their subjects in school. I have had a passion for reading all of my life. I pursued a bachelor's degree in English from the University of Wisconsin, which I received in 1973. I have taught children of all ages and disabilities in all academic areas. I prefer working with younger students. I have been published in a national education journal, "The Clearinghouse." I had an assistantship to an ecucation professor at the University of Iowa, where I received my master's degree in special education. I have woeked in small-group and one-to-one settings.
