During my 13 years in the Navy, I have always excelled in my academics and I welcomed the opportunity to serve as a mentor to my peers as well as subordinates. I have been active in every school that my children have attended and currently work as a tutor occasionally for my sons 8th grade AVID class (math & science) at Galaxy Middle School, Deltona, FL. I obtained a bachelor of science in Biological Sciences, but I was determined to strive for the best, and also wanted to obtain a greater understanding of the subject. As a result, I return to school to complete my masters in Biomedical Sciences. Although, I have never formerly tutor for an instition, I have worked with pre-teens and teens as a mentor for over a year and a half for the Youth Development Network.
As a mentor, working with children as always been a passion of mine. In my experience, I know that children learn at different speeds and in different ways. But also they tend to respond better academically when they have a tutor that they are able to relate to.
