I am not young enough to know everything

I agree with the concept that each person learns a bit differently, and even more so that as a tutor, I should try and find the most effective style for my tutee. My academic career also taught me the importance of setting time limits for each action item; and switching tasks to keep the mind sharp.
You will see from my resume below that I have strong experience in math, science, engineering and computers. It is worth mentioning that I am also skilled in english (5 on my AP World Lit exam) and art (voted most artistic in my senior high school class). I worked in the finance field at the Chicago Board of Trade while speaking Japanese for many years ( I can also read and write Hiragana and Katakana.) At some point later in life, I decided on a career change and got my degree in special education. I have taught BD/LD children mostly in the high school age group for 7 years in science, english and social studies. I had a wide spectrum of kids ranging from those with ADHD to autism.

My comments on tutoring Science : I love teaching Science using hands-on activities. I have been teaching elementary children for 8 years. Also, I have tutored Kindergarten through 8th grade students since 2010.

Teaching has always been my passion. From babysitting to leading summer camps, I have always enjoyed helping children learn. I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with English as a Second Language (ESL) and Spanish endorsements. I also have a Master's degree in Reading. Because all students learn differently, it is important for me as a teacher to get to know each student to find out what fits their needs the best. I like to offer a variety of activities that appeal to the hands-on learns, as well as kids that need visual cues. I am a patient, encouraging and energetic teacher. I believe in taking a casual approach in tutoring. From previous experience, I have found that many times students understand the material but tend to get flustered in a classroom environment. I provide guidance when needed, but sometimes students just need someone there to talk it out with them. If this is the case I like to ask questions until they find the answers themselves.
