Elementary Reading is one of my top subjects!

I believe it is so important to be a stepping stone for a child. You should be there for them when they start to stumble, but you shouldn't do everything for them.
I am an Elementary Education major at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. I have many hours of field experience that I have completed for my education courses. I have helped out with all age groups during my field experience. My father is a teacher and my mother runs a daycare in our home, so I have spent much time teaching children various subjects, along with helping children with their homework.

My comments on tutoring Elementary Reading : I have taught reading for four years. I have taught grades Kindergarten through fifth grade reading curriculum. I provide reading interventions daily for my students, as well as the core reading curriculum. I am familiar with Corrective Reading, Six Minute Solutions Fluency, Sound Partners, etc. I have had extensive practice with teaching comprehension skills and building blending/decoding skills. I have been to several reading trainings, including Anita Archer. I have implemented several of her practices into my own classroom teaching

I use various teaching styles within my classroom. I try to find how my student learns best and accommodate to their needs. All students learn differently, so I try to be flexible in my teaching style. I do like to make teaching as visual and hands on as I can.
I have been a teacher with CPS for four years. I am currently a Special Education teacher for grades K-5. I teach a caseload of 33 students ranging in abilities. I have a significant amount of experience teaching reading, math, and writing to struggling learners. In addition to working with students that have disabilities, I also have a degree in Elementary Education. I teach regular education students within my intervention groups throughout my school day.
