A Little Bit About Me...

I use various teaching styles within my classroom. I try to find how my student learns best and accommodate to their needs. All students learn differently, so I try to be flexible in my teaching style. I do like to make teaching as visual and hands on as I can.
I have been a teacher with CPS for four years. I am currently a Special Education teacher for grades K-5. I teach a caseload of 33 students ranging in abilities. I have a significant amount of experience teaching reading, math, and writing to struggling learners. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe it is so important to be a stepping stone for a child. You should be there for them when they start to stumble, but you shouldn't do everything for them.
I am an Elementary Education major at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. I have many hours of field experience that I have completed for my education courses. I have helped out with all age groups during my field experience. My father is a teacher and my mother runs a daycare in our home, so I have spent much time teaching children various subjects, along with helping children with their homework.

It has been my conviction to provide every student with the best education possible, regardless of the subject; thus, I have taken numerous post-graduate courses, and I possess a personal library of approximately 4,000 books. My teaching style is about positive feedback and patience. With my experience in psychology I have found that a calm nurturing environment lends itself to bolstering understanding for children. Also, a calm environment allows a child the ability to think without excessive distraction. Everyone learns in their own personal way and as a mentor I would like to help foster that.
As a college graduate and a mentor at a behavioral health facility I have gained valuable knowledge and confidence in one on one guidance. I have a BA in psychology and a BFA in studio arts and I am currently pursuing a place as a PhD candidate in the educational psychology program at UNL. I teach to the student. I find exactly what their strengths are and incorporate it in some way to learn something new. Education is a set of building blocks and can only be as strong as the foundation.
I graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in Mathematics. I spent a year as a Substitute Teacher in Lincoln, NE. I then took a year and a half break from teaching to recruit for a small college. I went back into teaching as a grade 7-12 mathematics teacher. I was responsible for the 7th grade through pre-calculus courses at Wheatland Public Schools in Madrid Nebraska. This school was then combined into Grant Public Schools. I am also a strong technical trainer in my current role and provide necessary computer and analytical training to all new associates at the current company I work for.
