Working with people, particularly children, has always been a passion of mine. Through the psychology program at Husson College I was able to gain a better understanding of human interaction, interpersonal relationships, as well as to obtain further insight on the foundation of the cognitive wiring in which we all possess. Although I loved mentoring the young adults, unfortunately because of relocation back to Maine I was unable to continue the job. Finally for another 3 years I worked as a junior high and high school math tutor in high school. I believe that you must approach education by meeting the student where he or she is rather having the student conform to your style. Therefore I embrace an eclectic style. Each student will present with some king of dominant learning style. They will be primarily visual, auditory, conceptual or experiential. My passion is the arts. I did tutoring as a high school student. I tutored other students in math. The tutoring program also placed me in kindergarten and first grade classes to help the teacher where needed. I have two children that are always asking how to do things. In addition, I have tutored adult friends for the GED test and the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB). I have finished the Income Tax Course with H&R Block at the end of 2010. Everyone has their own way of learning. The key is to figure that way out and use it to their advantage.
