I have earned a bachelors degree (BS in Biology) and I have excelled in my classes. I have taken 2 semesters of both general chemistry and organic chemistry. After performing at a high level in these courses, I ended up tutoring students in organic chemistry for about 2 semesters. Since I am currently studying for the MCAT exam (Medical College Admissions Test) my organic chemistry knowledge is fresh.
I am able to effectively relate/teach to people from different age groups, educational backgrounds, etc. My professor/mentor (Dr. Larry Hanne) has complimented on my ability to take complicated or difficult concepts and simplify them and then present them in a understandable way. As Cal Poly SLO has one of the most competitive engineering programs on the west coast, I have a depth of knowledge in both math and sciences. After earning my B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, I lived in Germany, Ohio, and Central California while trying to figure out my place in this world. I settled for two years in Salinas, California where I taught pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry to junior high and high school students. I believe this level of math is the most important as applications to everyday life are abundant.
