Having been devoted to the welfare of children and families and valuing education highly throughout my life, I find tutoring a satisfying occupation. After vounteering my services for many years, I attained formal degrees in education, psychology, and counseling, with very high GPAs. I taught psychology and sociology for several years and have also tutored K-college individually and in groups for many years. Recognizing that each person has his/her own learning style, I emphasize "application" of material learned. I do this primarily by providing examples of information taught and require my students to do the same. But it is also often necessary to help them identify what doesn't work and find new approaches that will. Writing is a skill that is crucial to academic success in college; students must excel in writing to do well in an academic environment. I’ve always enjoyed teaching others, whether I was a kid tacking up my pony and giving informal riding lessons or leading fellow undergrad students through the forests surrounding Salisbury University’s field station. In the past two years, I have discovered a passion for children. I immensely enjoyed the summer I spent teaching riding lessons in Colorado and realized how much I wanted to continue with the education process when I returned to the Eastern Shore.
