When teaching mathematics, I believe that over half of my job is social skills. Calming my students down, easing their frustration, and making them feel comfortable is over half the battle. It isn't that mathematics is too hard for most people, it is just too frustrating for most people. So my job is to set my client at ease and to create a learning environment. I have been involved in offering educational services since I was in high school, when I tutored younger students in math, Spanish, research writing, and general elementary subjects. A career in education was a natural choice, and I have taught both ESL and Spanish, with experience in elementary and secondary teaching, as well as teaching online.
Having taught small and large classes, as well as one-on-one, I am a firm believer in the benefit that one-on-one and small group instruction can offer for students. As a teacher, I love being able to identify and capitalize on students' interests and strengths. A Little Bit About Me...

I love helping people who are learning in a field that I love. I chose to go into accounting while I was still in high school and I haven't had a regret yet. It's a very useful skill to have and I've found it to be in demand and very versitle over the years. I enjoy trying to find new ways to explain things to people, it's a challenge. After 10 years in the magazine and event business, I moved into teaching technology at a small, local high school. In addition to teaching, I earned my credential and masters in education during the first three years. My background in editing and love of computers has proven very valuable.
