Struggling with Math/Science? Local Scientist Offering Help.

Most of my experience stems from my Bachelor of Arts degree at Wartburg College, Waverly, IA. As a Biology major, I have a good background in Life Sciences and Math. I have several study techniques that helped me succeed in college, as well as my current career as a Scientist Integrated DNA technologies in Coralville, IA. Some of my past experiences include working at a summer camp for two years as well as two years in an Emergency Room at a small hospital. I have learned to change and adapt to the needs of the person I am assisting and feel that, as a tutor, this could be a valuable asset.

A Little Bit About Me...

Organized after school program via church organization bringing in various graduate student volunteers for mathematics and English lessons, targeted for underprivileged youth trying to obtain GED's, as well as college entrance counseling. Because of my elementary background, it is safe to say I am a very patient person and I use that skill in my ability. I allow the children to create their own paths and when there are roadblocks we work together to find a solution. I am not in the habit of giving students the answers. I feel education is most effective when self discovery is involved and I want my students to feel that they are learning and achieving in every way possible. All students are capable of success; some just need more guidance than others.

A Little Bit About Me...

From my teaching experience at the University of Iowa, I think that the level of understanding of the subject varies from student to student. Some students grasp the subject easily while it is hard for others. Therefore I always try to teach the subject in a manner that will consider all the different levels of students and in which questions are encouraged.
I have earned two MS degrees and a BS degree in chemistry in my academic career. I have two-and-a-half year experience of teaching undergraduate students at the University of Iowa. I received a very good evaluation from students which I would be happy to share with you. I have also passed SPEAK TEST along with the English Language Performance Test which is a requirement to be able to teach at the University of Iowa.
