After twenty-five years in book and magazine publishing, I decided to do something that mattered, so I went back to school, got a master's degree, and began teaching. I've been teaching college English for the last ten years, as well as writing poetry -- some of which gets published. I also tutor students in how to write their college application essays. I've published poetry, a novel, short stories, and a short collection of essays.
Writing is thinking. If I can get my students to think, I can get them to write better. We sit down with interesting texts, thought-provoking texts, and figure out what the author was trying to say and how. Then we try to do the same thing ourselves. A Little Bit About Me...

After graduating in 1996, I opened my own tutoring service in Dickson, TN. I tutored individuals from public schools and home school in Math, Reading, and several other subjects needed until 2001. At this time I left Dickson and moved to Clarksville, TN and tutored with A+ Math tutoring intil 2006.
Seeing the look and smile on the face of a student that finally grasps a concept, or realizes they have just read on their own for the first time, OH What a Feeling!!! I take each child as their own individual knowing they have their own needs in learning a subject. I teach in several different ways as to ensure the child grasps what they need. I see children today as my future for tomorrow, so helping them and making a difference in their lives will make a difference in mine. I have not forgotten any individual I have helped to this day.

My teaching style has been developed from my experience in volunteer literacy tutoring with Hispanic immigrants, and substitute teaching in Davidson and Williamson County Schools. I have always taught music and instrumental skills in the course of my career.
I have 33 successful years experience as a guitarist/songwriter/publisher in Nashville. I was staff guitarist for Hee Haw and other TV shows. I have performed on recordings, television and/or in concert with 25 members of The Country Music Hall of Fame.
