When most high school seniors were registering for classes, they had an easy agenda planned. My intentions were entirely different. I decided to challenge myself the final year and study more science coursework than was needed for me to sufficiently graduate. In addition, I was the kind of friend that was reliable in understanding course concepts, so most of my friends and some other peers were coming to me for help. In college, I continued to pursue my interest in business. Through out college I contributed to my church's youth group by helping in organizing and implementing their projects. I enjoy children and trying to teach them new and exciting things. At times, I understand that it requires patience to work with children, but if you are able to do that then chances of success are much more likely. I am a great believer in Cognitive Constructivist teaching methods. I believe "working with" a new concept or idea is extremely valuable in remembering the target information. So, in working with my current students, I always try to reinforce lecture information with patient guided practice and hands-on activities so that the student can build his or her own knowledge and get the information to stick. I have dedicated the majority of my adult life to reaching and teaching others so that they may reach their potential. For the past thirty years, I have taught Sunday school, youth groups, theatre students, women's groups and most recently high school students in the Dakota Valley School District.
