A Little Bit About Me...

Several years of artistic experience, with portfolio to prove it. I have done paintings (murals, on canvas, on wood, linoleum, house painting, watercolor, acrylic, etc.), drawings (pencil, colored pencil, charcoal), digital painting and drawing, sculpture (aesthetic sculptures, furniture sculptures), and costume design (halloween, cosplay, stage costumes). I have done commissions for several clients. I have never tutored in art before, but I believe I am at a skill level in which I can easily show those how to get their creative juices flowing.
Very up to the student. I will push you towards your goal, but since this is art, I will only critique your planning and how you compose your work. Will help with basics.

A Little Bit About Me...

I taught Kindergarten for five years at two different Title-1 schools in Okeechobee, Florida. I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of students including those afflicted with ADD/ADHD, learning disabilities, and behavioral challenges. Prior to my teaching experience, I have also had experience interning in 2nd grade and 4th grade classrooms, worked with extended day programs and tutored elementary school students.
From my teaching experience, I have been able to remain sensitive to students’ unique capabilities and provide a supportive and positive learning environment. My greatest strength includes the ability to motivate students using a variety of teaching styles in order to accommodate the variety of learning styles among each student.

Of the essence in tutoring is to make the subject pertinent and fun, as well as applicable to everyday life. For small children, we have phonetics to help the child master sounds and words. I do use Ipod teaching games to involve the child actively. Obviously for older children, who may have trouble expressing themselves, increasing vocabulary usage is of the utmost importance, otherwise compositions are redundant and lacking depth/style.
