I have many years of experience working with students of all ages and abilities. I have taught in public schools, in private schools, with troubled and behavior problem youth, incarcerated youths (13-20 years of age), as well as home-schooled students, small group, and one-on-one. I have tutored students in all levels of math, science, English, Spanish, social studies, and history. I also have experience with SAT and ACT prep. I truly enjoy what I do. I love enabling students to achieve their goals, become self sufficient, and successful. I teach to the individual, looking for individual strengths and weaknesses; then modify my approach to meet the needs of the individual student. For the past three years I have taught first grade in Florida. For one year I tutored third grade students in a Saturday School program. I have worked for a learning center providing educational support to students of all levels during the summer. While teaching in Florida I obtained an ESOL endorsement on my teaching certificate through 300 hours of training. In addition, I have worked closely with the veteran teachers in my school to gain skills toward becoming a more effective educator. I strongly believe that education is a life-long learning experience, that children are able to learn from each other, that a teacher can facilitate the learning process and that students and teachers are able to learn from each other. I endorse the theory that all children can learn, but also recognize that they are unique individuals, who may process learning in different ways. It is, therefore, important to use the teaching method/techniques/strategies that best work with each students. I am an advocate of bringing real life into the classroom and/or taking students on field trips to experience things first-hand.
