Experienced Graphic Artist and Administrative Manager

Though I have only been teaching with the schools since 2011, I have been teaching on-and-off since 1985. I am a certified Martial Arts instructor and have taken my teaching methods from this, my military time, and even my life experiences. I believe that whatever we are learning that the classroom environment needs to stay fun and flowing smoothly. I believe that hands-on is better than reading the steps in a book and following just them. With doing that, the student learns only what is there and ends up stuck in a box. A Little Bit About Me...

I have spent the last five years attaining my BS in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Idaho. Throughout those four years I have had several opportunities to help out by mentoring young students. I am a part of a greek organization on campus that has housed many students, of which I have had the chance to help. I have tutored in several areas including: English, Mathematics (up to Ord. Differential Equations), programming, engineering, and CAD programs. I also have a lot of experience with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. I have not tutored in, but have recently taken and completed, physics, chemistry, materials, robotics, and economics.

I have always been passionate about art. I am fortunate to have learned my skill from some very talented and capable professors who I admire; I know I have the ability to successfully teach students at all ages and knowledge levels. I have spent much time volunteering at a local elementary school, not only teaching art, but helping out with other duties as well. I enjoy teaching and helping others in any way that I can. I started as an Adjunct Instructor at ISU for the Geomatics Engineering program for the 2007-2008 school year. Prepare for class setup the curriculum, homework, grading and test for 10-12 students. I went to ITT Technical Institute following that and was offered to Chair School of Drafting & Design. I taught and ran the department for 2 years. I was in charge of 4-10 teachers and 170+ students.
I believe in identifying the learning style of the student which can take some time with some. Are they a visual learner I draw pictures, maps, charts and video; if an audio learner tapes, lecture, youtube, video, etc,.. and if a kinesthetic learner then they need the hands on experience to develop the learning that is needed, so then standing back to guide the thought process without doing it for them.
