The methods of teaching I was instructed when I obtained my Bachelor in Education at the University of Akron Ohio, from 1989-1991, was the following Integrated, Whole language approach and Montessori. The method we were instructed to use in the Akron city school system was Integrated which uses basic and whole language approach language Arts. These integrated units allow us the opportunity to make sure children are learning relevant information and applying that knowledge to real life scenarios. My teaching style is a “hands on” approach. I like to find out what the student already knows about the subject. I then like to fill in the missing links for the student in a fun, and interactive manner. I discuss any questions that the student has about the material after the initial information is given.
