My comments on tutoring Accounting : I taught accounting at Ohio University and Remington College. I passed the AICPA exam in 1969 (first try). I have four years experience as a CPA with Ernst & Young. I have four years of experience at MPI. I do my own accounting and taxes for my Company.

I would like to work with a student needing help w/ acctg.

As a Senior in college, I worked the help room for students taking the first year accounting class. I spent my time answering questions and helping people work study questions. I would like to think that I was able to help some students. Accounting is not an easy subject to learn for someone who has never been exposed to it. I feel I have the proper background to help. I have a bachelor's degree in Accounting and I am a CPA. My current full-time position is as a Controller for my company. I also work part-time for HR Block preparing tax returns.
I would let the student try to work the problem and explain what he or she knows. Then I would explain how the correct answer is arrived at and review with the student. I would then select another similar question to see if the student can apply what we just discussed.

I am a tax accountant and only work during tax season. Throughout the last several years I have been tutoring several students in accounting (college level) as a volunteer. I have also tutored high school math previously. I volunteer extensively with an inner city ministry group when I am not working and as such also have done some training and teaching. I have taken graduate level accounting and h.r. courses - but have decided not to pursue my MBA at this time.

I have been teaching at Ohio Business College for the past 4 years. I have taught several accounting courses at the associate degree level. I tutor students that are having difficulty with class material. I also teach students through independent study, where we cover the same material as a regular course, but without a class lecture.
I knew after taking a couple of courses when I went back to graduate school in 2003 that I wanted to go into teaching, at least on a part time basis. Broad experience in accounting from small business (where I wore all hats including HR to TB reconciliation) to finding my place in a huge corporation; have trained my replacements (even those who had no prior knowledge of debits and credits or what a BS or IS means) which I have always done successfully.
