My comments on tutoring Mechanical Engineering : Graduated with honors from the University of Florida with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.

It has been my great pleasure to have taken part in several classroom setting teaching opportunities and numerous tutoring jobs. I taught Chemistry and Calculus to incomming university freshman in the Engineering Freshman Transition Program (eFTP) and proctored and designed the University of Florida's Tissue Engineering Lab class. While in university I tutored every mathematics dicipline from pSAT prep to Differential Equations and Astrodynamics. Have been a professor in College teaching Computer basics and programming including FORTRAN, QBasic, C++, also Numerical Methods and mathematics. A computer programmer with dilated experience in several languages as well as working in pseudocode and programs creation, using operating systems from XP to Vista and Visual Studio. Also using Microsoft suite to develop programs mainly in Excel using the VBA option. Using VBA, also applied to AutoCAD. With expertise in Mechanical and Civil Engineering related to structures and also in mechanics applied to Hydraulics.

A Little Bit About Me...

My mentoring style is geared to the personality of each student, and I'm very engaged in what he or she needs. I fully understand that there IS such a thing as "Math Anxiety" (that hinders students, not just in Math, but other subjects too), so we work hard to overcome it! My students at Palm Beach State are blown away that on Day1 of each course I play a Jimmy Buffet song called "Math Sucks" and allow them to voice agreement with it. I then ask them to give me a shot at changing that perception. It's a rewarding experience, when at the end of the term, they tell me things like: "Dr B, you're a chill teacher!" (Your student knows what that means.) That's the stuff that motivates me! It's why I LOVE doing this!

In college I majored in Chemistry with a year in Physics and Biology. In High School I received the Chemistry Award. In college I gave drum lesson. I played for eighteen years. I was an art dealer for years and am very familiar with the various styles and periods of art which adds depth to the teaching process.
First I try and determine what it is that the student does not understand. Next I try and evaluate the way the student processes infrmation so I can explain the problem adn solution 'in their language'.
