Latin is one of my top subjects! Grade 7-12; Beginner or Intermediate College

My GPA at Ohio University was 3.9 in Latin Major. I have 18 years of Experience as a Certified Secondary Instructor in the State of Ohio. I have taught as many as four H.S. Levels of Latin. My classes have focused significantly on vocabulary, grammar, translation and sentence structures. Nor have my classes been without segments on Classical History, Classical Mythology, and Classical influences in art, architecture, science and our legal system. Special attention has always been devoted to broadening English vocabulary.

Latin is one of my top subjects!

I am a Latin teacher who tries to make every part of the language accessible to all students. I teach grades 7 through 12. I have taught AP courses, advanced ancient history courses, as well as classes such as Latin I, II, III, etc. Working one-on-one, I help students to identify problem areas and focus our attention there. I also can help come up with good strategies to memorize vocabulary or understand complex grammatical structures. I like to make Latin something fun that sticks with you, rather than dull and boring. I've spent a lot of time in Rome studying and can explain a lot about the history, archaeology, and culture behind readings and vocabulary.

Since the time I was ABD, I have taught and tutored Latin, Greek, and Classics in translation classes both at the high school and college levels. Currently, I teach Latin (1st, 2nd, and 3rd year) at a local high school as well as Greek and Latin at the Pontifical College Josephinum.
I recognize the weaknesses in English grammar background that most students have currently and teach Latin with that in mind. I also am able to explain the grammatical concepts that students often find difficult in a reasonable, easily comprehensible fashion. I expect my students to work hard and ask questions when they do not understand.
