Orton-Gillingham Approach (multisensory, structured, sequential, cumulative) I am currently completing the Dyslexia Certificate Program through Dyslexia Training Institute. I am a homeschool mother of four, including two dyslexic students that I have been individually tutoring for four years using the Barton Reading & Spelling System. Prior to that I taught third grade in the public school system for three years. I have had stellar success working with students with decoding disorders, though I do not follow a prescribed curriculum such as OG. I love to incorporate art and sensory experiences into everything I do to really activate the brain. The "Drill and Kill" is very rarely appropriate, so I tailor every approach individually. What works for one student may not work with another. My formal training includes many intervention types and experience with multiple programs and curricula, so I have a large pool from which to draw...then we get creative! My style REALLY aims for those over-arching foundational skills like critical thinking, thought organization, and problem solving.
