A Little Bit About Me...

I most enjoyed teaching young adults and adults as they prepared for tangible competencies and careers. By my encouraging this group of diverse students to help me assess their work through journal writing, they became partners. Native speakers of English, believing that their communication skills were up to par, identified weaknesses and worked at correcting them; for other students, the course served as remedial instruction or a wake-up call.
My career has been in advertising, graphic design, and editing/ publishing. In recent years, I have substituted in area junior and high schools, and I have taught at a certificate-granting school (now a junior college) with an emphasis on English grammar and composition.

My teaching style is relaxed, but focused. I believe all children can be natural learners, especially when they find something that interests them. Patience is the key with children. Every child has their own pace and learning style. Some are very visual learners while others need to be able to be more hands-on. It is very rewarding helping someone succeed.
I am a former UConn graduate (1984) with a BS in Marketing. Many of my electives were in mathematics, enabling me to work as a student tutor on campus. I have also completed coursework in anatomy and physiology. A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently working part time as a ski instructor with children. This has taught me to be patient with the development of my students.
