Individualized instruction

I taught for seven years in public education. My experience spans from grades 5-8. In that time, I worked with a diverse population with varying needs. My classroom was inclusionary which required modification of instruction, and learning about a variety of learning disabilities. Many of my students were ESL, as well.

My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : I am not classroom trained in this field, nor do i have a psychology degree, and i cant prescribe any medicine. i am twenty years old and have been living with adhd since i was born. I know what it feels like and have trained myself to focus and fit in to society, and i know what its like and the best ways to overcome it and have a positive outlook. i just wish when i was a kid i had someone who had known what it was like, instead of Doctors, taking their best guess at what i feel like

I have always been a hands on learner, so that is mostly the way i portray my lessons, by doing, instead of readin. However i also see the need in having to sit down and Get to work, because some thing are better learned on paper

I have worked with children most of my life and have many years of experience with them, including independently tutoring two elementary students in the early 1990s. I spent two years as a substitute teacher for primarily Groton Public Schools but also Norwich and Waterford Public Schools.
