I knew after taking a couple of courses when I went back to graduate school in 2003 that I wanted to go into teaching, at least on a part time basis. My daughter is an elementary school teacher, and I felt that I had an influence on her choice of a major. I enjoy seeing students learn. The entire time of seeing them with their first class in accounting until their last class is a fun ride for me. Just seeing their increase in their level of knowledge is a wonderful feeling. The best part of my year is graduation day, when I see students that I taught at least once class graduate. I feel that I was a part of it and that I had a positive affect on their life in at least some way.

I like teaching all levels, but prefer teens and adults. My goal is to help the student really understand the subject matter. When possible, I try to use examples that are more relevant to helping the student understand. While I am driven and have done very well in school, some students do not have an aptitude for accounting and may only be taking it for their major. While I would like them to do very well, I will work with them at their level and to the degree they have the interest in putting in the effort to learn and succeed.
