When a student is challenged with a physics problem, they feel overwhelmed because they do not understand how to approach the problem. For example, making a sandwich you first use the bread to contain the other ingredients such as the meat, vegetables and condiments. This basic understanding of ingredients on how to make a sandwich is applicable to the atom. An atom is made of protons, electrons and neutrons. I have lived in South Jersey all of my life. I received my degree in Accounting from Stockton and have spent most of my career in finance working my way up to Controller for several businesses. When I was laid off, I had always wanted to try teaching and I loved it. I love working with kids (I also coach baseball and football), I really get a kick out of passing my knowledge onto them and seeing their face when it sinks in.
Math to me is like a puzzle... if you can imagine the pieces in your mind, fitting them together in practice is so much easier.
