Much of my teaching style I learned while at Apple Computer in one on one computer teaching sessions. I tend to be a very enthusiastic and encouraging anyway, but Apple taught me an additional patience and a lead-learning-out teaching style that promotes self-discovery and avoids simply giving answers. Though it is geared towards adults, I have since found that adapting the patent and deliberate pace of LLO teaching to the learning level of younger children is effective and fun for both myself and the student. Following my graduation from UHH, I was a substitute teacher and tutor for ESL students for 5 months. I have worked students coming from all types of backgrounds. Recently, I have begun substitute teaching again and have been for an additional 4 months. I enjoy working with the students and seeing them excel.
I enjoy giving the students individual attention. I noticed that often students are ashamed to ask for help or ask questions in front of the class. It is important to walk around the classroom and ask students how they are doing and if they understand the concepts. Many times it only then will a student accept help. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching is not my career, however, I have taught young children through 6th grade many years ago using a spoken system followed up by TV. Children learned the meaning of the words in context without having to translate each time. It was a fun interactive experience. This gave them a feel for the intonations and pronounciation of the language and a good sense of what they were communicating from repetition and use. The actual meanings fell into place much easier as well as structure. I have helped with translations on many occassions and offered assistance to friends who wished to travel and have basic speaking knowledge to communicate in their travels.
