I have tutored grades k-4 in Math, reading and english for the past six years in an after school program. I have studied child development to help me relate to elementary students. My experience in writing for a newspaer has improved grammatical skills.This endeavor has given me an eye for correctness and detail to insist on with my students. My educational background in psychology and early childhood education has given me the insight to allow student to figure out things themselves with a little prompting. I try to tailor my style to the student. Each student I had tutored when I was in college I had basically spoke with them, got to learn what they strong points were, their weaknesses, and areas that needed more base learning. I tailored lesson plans to help fill in their educational gaps, created small weekly assignments, and also helped with their current homework/lesson plan. I believe everyone learns in different ways.
