My comments on tutoring Homework Help : One thing I have learned from my own son, is that a child is much more likely to willingly complete work for their teacher than their parent! One helpful hint I use with my own child is playing soft classical music in the background.

I have taught in a first and second grade classroom for ten years, and served as a Reading Specialist for k-5 for seven. I have discovered that the most successful way to teach a child how to read is gaining their interest and full attention, while observing what learning style is best for each individual child. While teaching I use an assortment of manipulatives, repetitive phonics instruction, and books! Whatever works for your child, works for me! This is my first year not teaching in the public schools, and I am very familiar with the assessments and expectations. I have led professional development on mclass for K-3, and have years of successful experiences in preparing students for EOGs. Changing The World, One Child AT A Time

I was an assistant teacher to a 3rd grade class at Wilson's Mills Elementary from 2001 until 2003.
