More About This Tutor...

I am currently a high school junior. That being said, I do not have a degree. However, I am in the top 20% of my high school class, I take only honors classes, and actually learn the material so I can tutor a student who needs help. I would love to help any child or student who is wanting to excel in their studies. (:
I would describe my teaching style as friendly. I try not to give off so much of teacher-student type atmosphere, because many children get discouraged and are not as comfortable and not as willing to learn.

My comments on tutoring Homework Help : One thing I have learned from my own son, is that a child is much more likely to willingly complete work for their teacher than their parent! One helpful hint I use with my own child is playing soft classical music in the background.

I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from UNC-Wilmington. I taught first and second grades for ten years in the classroom. While teaching, I returned to school to receive my Master's Degree in Reading (k-12) and certification as a Reading Specialist. I worked as a Reading Teacher for five years, focusing on grades first through third. I also served as a K-2 Instructional Coach. I have enjoyed guiding children through the stages of reading, beginning with letter recognition and book and print awareness, to successfully completing End of Grade tests. My most recent experience has been helping teach a couple students being homeschooled! What an exciting experience! Unfortunately, the family is moving out of state. Our one on one learning experiences were extremely successful! I’d love to have the opportunity to participate in homeschool teaching again!

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been tutoring since I was in high school. Between that and teaching Sunday School and Children's Church, I have more than ten years of experience. I have tutored children whose ages range from elementary school to high school. I have also tutored adults to help with college classes and help prepare for GED tests. I teach the Bible to children whose ages range from newborn to eight years.
This depends on the student and his or her individual needs. I like to find creative ways to make learning more fun for the individual so that he or she will feel more motivated to learn.

My comments on tutoring Homework Help : Good with children, and able to work patiently and diligently to help complete homework assignments to best of child's ability.

My experiences come from a mix of studies and real life application. I have studied various forms of writing, from professional, creative, and argumentative; these include gather sources and properly citing them in both MLA and APA formats. My personal applications of these writing materials have been for personal use in working on short stories and poems. I have an extensive history with drawing, mainly through personal sketches (both cartooning and realism). While in college, I have also studied several techniques that have greatly improved my drawing practices in the form of realistic drawing.
My teaching style is very hands on, and student focused. I like to connect with whoever I teach on a personal level so that they can feel comfortable with me as a tutor and with themselves while learning how to approach old problems in new ways.

I have worked as an elementary education teacher for 24 years. I attended East Carolina University and have completed 24 hours of graduate-level work towards a masters degree. I graduated magna cum laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa as well as the education honor society. I have worked at a local tutoring center as well as having done private tutoring. I love learning math and science and I enjoy sharing the same love of learning with my students. I like seeing the look on their face when they really get it! Students requiring tutoring are sometimes in academic distress and have anxiety therefore I have a more easy going and patient style of tutoring than most. I believe I'm an effective tutor because I remember the exact same difficulties and questions I had as a student and can relate to their frustration. Most people as well as myself are visual learners thus I teach by working several examples and gradually increasing the difficulty at a pace set by the student. I would rather spend a whole tutoring session working a few examples the student completely understands as opposed to several problems with no understanding. The goal is to slowly establish a pattern of success with simpler work then before the student realizes it they're o ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My brother's former co-worker talked to me on the phone and told me that his son was having trouble in school. His son didn't understand his mathematics most of the time, so I agreed to tutor him every week. The more tutoring I gave his son, the better his grades were. In Oct. 2007, I worked for UNLV's Gear-Up as a teacher's assistant and tutor. My assignment was at Sedway Middle School in North Las Vegas, NV. The teachers and the staff were very good to me, and I loved that job for a whole year. Mathematics and reading are my definite strongpoints.

My experience has not been in a professional capacity (in the classroom), but in a personal and rewarding position working individually with students. Tutoring students in this environ ... read more

For over four years, I have been involved in private tutoring as well as teaching classes available to the public. I have a passion for teaching and enjoy helping others succeed. While completing my Bachelors in Business Administration, I developed a firm understanding and passion for economics, finance, and accounting. My work experience, in banking and in organizational management, has provided me with opportunity to apply this knowledge in real life situations.
I enjoy teaching and working with children and adults. My first experience in education was with children's music classes, and have since enjoyed the opportunity to teach adults at the community college level. I would describe my style as adaptive. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always enjoyed being around children. Being able to help shape young minds and ensure that students are not only getting a great education, but also a great experience. This is why I wanted to become a teacher. As a teacher, I learned that every child is different. Some students learn by listening and some students are very visual. Having a variety of teaching methods is what I found to be most effective. Differentiated learning helped me greatly as a teacher to ensure that all of my students were given a fair chance at learning. I love to make learing fun for students. I enjoy when my students ask questions and are engaged in what they are doing. I know I can make a difference as an educator.

I have recently graduated from North Carolina State University with a BS in Biological Sciences with a minor in Genetics. During college, I taught/tutored 7th graders at a local middle school in the areas of math and science. I was responsible for full lessons as well as small group tutoring and science experiments. I was able to set-up lessons for the children to explain how math and science works together in order to provide data. Therefore, the students were able to understand how data transforms from quantitative data to qualitative data through graphs and pictures. Also, I was a nanny for three years for two boys which required extensive tutoring. Both children obtained and maintained their respective academic honors during my care.
The best way to describe my teaching style is to find a creative way to remember material. For example, I have a child that had to memorize his p ... read more
