I have 20 years experience in the marines, so I have a no nonsense approach to teaching and tutoring. My own two children (boys, now grown) will tell you that despite my military bearing, I am patient and understanding with kids. I believe the best way to teach children (or anyone) is to create the conditions that will encourage and allow them to teach themselves. I believe that adults model for children continuously. I hold a Florida certification for ESE with English Speakers of other Languages (ESOL) endorsement. In addition to college courses I have completed College Board’s Springboard training and have successfully used it to help students increase test scores. I have taught all subject areas in middle school ESE settings for six years in a variety of classroom models.

I have 17 years in the classroom and 5 years of education to attain this. I still make myself available to help any student who needs it even though I have left the classroom. I have also substituted for 3 years at all grade levels. I have had to write many papers during my educational experience. My students had to write essays as part of their testing and do extensive research to write papers to enhance their experience in the classroom.
All students learn at different levels. I like to incorporate all the learning styles of students. Some learn by hands-on, others by listening, and some by writing. These are all used by me. I was driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education based on my own families background and my own. Because I was overlooked it gave me the desire to help those that seemed mostlikely to not succeed. I earned a bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education while working full time and being a full time mom. I went on to earn my Masters in Education and Psychology/Counseling.
