When I did my first student teaching in the 4th grade I succeeded in teaching the children all subjects. I also taught one Spanish girl how to read English and learn her math. My second term of student teaching was in the 3rd grade. Again I succeeded in teaching all subjects to my students. All my students were involved in learning. My greatest year of teaching was at Saint Joseph School. I taught middle school English from 5th grade through 8th grade. All my students were very busy learning their English lessons. It wasn't until I completed my B.S. degree and had a child of my own to fully understand the importance of an education. My son was diagnosed with Autism, this diagnosis woke in me a new desire to learn. I went on to complete my Masters Degree while working on my son's social, language and educational development. I became an adovcate for children and have an understanding for children with LD.
