I have a passion for teaching people things that I love to do. I love to write, to analyze literature, and to solve problems. I bring energy and patience to the learning experience, and I am able to explain concepts in more than one way. All people, children and adults, learn in unique ways. The best thing I can do for people that I tutor will be to help them understand the ways that they learn. When people understand themselves better, they can learn more efficiently in the future without the help of a tutor! My goal is for all the people I teach to learn on their own and to one day be able to teach others.

It is very important to let children know that there is no wrong or right way of doing their work, as long as it is done correctly. They also need to know that their methods are their own. Children needs reassurance. When A childs' work is not done to one's full potential, it is not my strategy to make them feel like less of a child. It is however, my strategy to work with that child until he/she understands WHY the work was not done correctly, and then let him/her correct the work themself. This in my opinion, lets a child know that we believe in him/her. That is the most important lesson a child can learn. That they are their own person and that they all have the potential to achieve the goals set for them.
My most recent experience was as apreschool teacher. Despite the fact that the children were all the same age, whatever developmental or cognitive delays a child might ... read more

My expertise lies not only in the proficient use of the English language but in skills development. I can teach anyone of any age to discover, embellish, and resourcefully utilize even the most obscure of their talents and abilities. For twelve years I coordinated and mentored forensic (public speaking) teams that participated in league competitions. As someone who felt in my youth that if I could only pay attention I could learn anything has taught me how to break down the barriers to focus and how it can shape a students success in any discipline. Focusing on my learning style has taught me how to demonstrate complex ideas in ways that are easy to absorb. I tend to find different ways to relate material to students in ways that are fun. I used a dollars and cents approach to teach young students the importance of decimals, fractions, and basic arithmetic as how it affected their own bottom line: their allowance, milk money and so on. I also have found that not speaking from a position of authority but rather as a fellow learner have exacted better results.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a current undergraduate chemistry and honors student at Arcadia University, I was recommended to become a tutor from several of my teachers my first year in college. I became a certified CRLA tutor and started tutoring my sophomore year of college; I've been tutoring ever since. I tutor chemistry, biology, math (beginner algebra, statistics, calculus I and II), and calculus based physics.
I love working with students and teaching them something new. The best feeling is when someone understands a concept that they didn't before; when something "clicks" for a student, I feel as if my job as a tutor was done. I'm a very determined, persistent, caring, and patient person; all of these characteristics have helped me become a great tutor.
