My comments on tutoring Chinese : I have taken 1 semester of college Mandarin. I have been studying on my own for one year. I currently teach beginning Mandarin skills at the elementary level (grades K-2).

I have been teaching and tutoring students for more than 20 years. I currently provide online as well as in person tutoring to students in the areas of phonics and reading. I am an ESL teacher for a couple of online companies in China. I work as a substitute teacher for the public school system where I live and I am also pursuing a degree in Spanish at Arizona State University. I enjoy seeing students make progress, not only in academics, but also in learning life lessons from their study. I believe this is the real vocation of a teacher. Any metods can be used to teach such as TV documentaries, radio, activities and even movies with specific lessons about life. Information is only as good as what it is used for. Therefore, I always make sure the student has formed an opinion about how the material can be used by him/her.

I finished my Master of Accountancy at Bob Jones University this May with a 3.9 GPA. I changed my major from Economics to Accounting since I came to Bob Jones University. In my Master’s program, I have extensive study in the areas of Accounting and Business. I also worked in the IT Asset Warehouse at Bob Jones University from December 2009 to graduation. I passed some parts of CPA this month and still sitting for the other parts.
I think my teaching goals and methods address a variety of student learning styles. I want to spend time consulting with students on how to improve their work on individual and/or group projects. I believe that small group discussions are helpful for students to develop their ability to think critically. There are a variety of skills and methods one may employ to be a good teacher. First and foremost one needs to be knowledgeable and patient. I have a decent education but have continued to improve myself by continuing to read a wide range of subjects for all of my adult life, this plethora of material has helped to instruct students in many areas. More importantly I am patient; learning can take an extensive amount of time with some students. It cannot be rushed, and so one must be able to drill and inspire the most basic material into the most dull of people if one is to do well as a teacher.
