As a teaching major, I did my student teaching during my last semester of college (in kindergarten and third grade). This was in the spring of 2008. I believe children learn best when they can form a connection to their school work. Writing skills can be improved by using topics that are relevant to the student's life. When working on Reading skills I often use high interest topics such as the arts, sports, computers and science to encourage students to excel.
