I substituted after graduation and realized I loved teaching. In college I was asked to tutor for my instructors. My classmates came over to my house to study. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ole Miss in 99'. I taught 2nd and 5th grade before going to Falkner to teach Special Ed. in grades 9-12. I helped prepare students for state tests. I co-taught in Eng. and Alg. I also taught MS Studies, W.Geog., U.S. History, Drama, Eng. II, U.S. History, Journalism, Tutorial and ACT prep also. I have experience in math and science as well. I have tutored elementary students during my tenure in the Air Force on a volunterr basis. I worked as a Introduction to Computers instructor at Keiser College for two semesters. I have a fascination with math and numbers. My extensive experience with budgeting and using spreadsheets and formulas has kept me fresh with my math skills. I recently tutored a 50+ adult to take a math skills test for the CRC. He passed, and was had such a sense of accomplishment, after almost giving up hope that he could pass it.

Since undergraduate work, I have worked in the business world, primarily in the manufacturing arena. My academic experiences have continued on some level. In times past I tutored high school math students in North Carolina. I am proficient is equations, inequalities, Cartesian Coordinate System, polynomials, factoring and functions.
My style focuses on the processes in arriving at a solution. The learning goal in mathematics is to impart understanding of the process of working toward a solution, not attaining the solution. I have an associates degree in Computer Science/Engineering and a bachelor's in Mathematics Education with a minor in Psychology. I have over 25 years teaching/tutoring/test prep experience. I have also authored ACT test items and units for various textbook companies. I design, and deliver workshops for teachers across the state of Mississippi as a teacher/consultant for the National Writing Project.
