The methods of teaching I was instructed when I obtained my Bachelor in Education at the University of Akron Ohio, from 1989-1991, was the following Integrated, Whole language approach and Montessori. The method we were instructed to use in the Akron city school system was Integrated which uses basic and whole language approach language Arts. These integrated units allow us the opportunity to make sure children are learning relevant information and applying that knowledge to real life scenarios. Language Arts is what I use in all my teachings and lesson plans.

After working in the Marketing/PR field for 5 years, I relocated to Puerto Rico to be with my husband. Not having a solid foundation of the language, I could not obtain a job in my previous field. It was at this time that I discovered the world of education. I began substitute teaching at the Department of Defense School and continued doing that for one year. We were then relocated to Savannah, GA and I was hired by a private school to teach 6th and 7th grade English, Literature and Social Studies. I taught at this school for 3 years and tutored each summer. We then relocated to Ohio and I have been tutoring for the past six months(including inner city students).

I enjoy working with students of all ages. My teaching style is nurturing and patient. Everyone learns at different speeds and no one approach works for all students. With children the involvement of a parent or grandparent is extremely important because they know the child and what he/she needs. Thus communication between the tutor and responsible adult is necessary for the child's success and clear expectations and goals are very important. My teaching style is basic. I feel it is most important for a student to grasp the basics before they can move on to more complicated subject material. I also am a strong believer of parental involvement. A parent knows their children's learning patterns best. I like to use different approaches. Activities that are visually and mentally stimulting help to form a connection between the student and the lesson. It is important to me that each of my student's set and acheive goals.

I earned a 98% in my College Algebra course this past fall so I am here to lend a hand to those who could use it. My focus in college was Communication with a minor in Philosophy. I also studied international relations for 6 months in Europe, earned a certificate in graphic and web design in San Francisco, and I am currently studying medical imaging here in Cleveland. I also have a great deal of experience as a singer and guitar player, which is where the bulk of my teaching experience comes from. I grew up in a family that values education so much that we were living in a state of war in Lebanon and still running from one school to the other. This instilled in me a great amount of love and appreciation towards education. During High school, I joined “Shabibat EL-Makassed”, a community service program, where I participated in public speech and writing contests, in addition to community service activities.
